GPOY “Combing out my dreads while watching 24 and drinking Sam Adams Irish Red” edition
So the first “grown up” decision I have made in awhile… I am going to take out my dreads in an attempt to seem more professional. (I just died a little inside)
I got a job and I would like to impress my employers and become full-time and in order to do that I think I might have to sell-out a little bit. I need to work hard, be early, stay late and be awesome, which includes meeting their standards of “professionalism.”
But its just hair. I won’t let my pride get in the way of being a responsible adult. I’m sure if you are still reading this then you are thinking, “It sounds like she doesn’t want her pride to get in the way of her greed.” But I owe a lot of money to a few places that helped me pay for college so SUCK IT. For interviews and such I hide my dreads and plugs pretty well but honestly I’m not sure if I’m allowed to have either. The gauges will stay since they look like “normal” earrings but the dreads I think have to go, at least for now. I’m sure they will make a return when I can finally settle into a career and not worry about being hired/fired based on personal style and hygiene. That will eventually happen, right?
